THE LODGE AT SPIKEHORN RIDGE

The base camp for this guide service is Spikehorn Ridge Farm located in Washington, Vermont.  Lodging for our guests includes a three bedroom farm house (The Lodge) and Mr. Prescott's barn.  Home cooked meals are provided at the Lodge.

The Spikehorn Ridge property consists of 225 acres of pristine northern hardwood forest. The “Ridge” is located in the Eastern foothills region of the state, also known as the Vermont Piedmont. This area is composed of rolling hills and valleys, where every valley has a crystal clear brook or river, and most ridges have a network of trails and old town roads often running alongside stonewalls of granite, signs of Vermont’s pastured past. This will be the picturesque setting while you visit the “Ridge.” The backdrop, however, will change depending on what time of the year you choose to come up for a visit.

I am the driving force behind Spikehorn Ridge and it is my interest in the out of doors that has led me to put together this team of outdoorsmen and women. My purpose is essentially to share the resources that the Green Mountain State has to offer and to teach the dramatically different ways in which these resources can be used. My interests extend from water-fowling to bird-watching, plant identification to eating wild foods, catch and release fishing to fish fries, nature photography to bow and arrow hunting, and tree hugging to chopping firewood. Massachusetts- Another facet of the Spikehorn Ridge Guide Service is trips into “The Great Marsh.” The Spikehorn Ridge saltmarsh is located in Ipswich, MA and sits within a rich ecosystem.  Our most popular activities are angling for striped bass and bluefish with fly rods and light tackle as well as waterfowl hunting for ducks (seaducks, divers and puddle ducks) & geese. These powerful sportfish fill the tidal creeks and inshore waters May thru October and the waterfowl are plentiful from September until mid February -"cast and blast" can be unbelievable.
A trip to the marsh almost always means fresh fish, mussels, clams &/or waterfowl for dinner."
